GSP, top UFC fighter, due

MANILA, Philippines - Ultimate Fighting Championship reigning welterweight champion Georges “Rush” St-Pierre (GSP) will arrive in Manila on Sept. 23 to interact with Filipino UFC fans.

St-Pierre, who will be the biggest UFC fighter to visit the country after Chuck Liddell and Brandon Vera, will have a special day with local UFC fans on Sept. 25 at the Mall of Asia.

With a 20-2 win-loss slate highlighted with nine knockouts, GSP has been lauded by many media outlets for his well-rounded skills. He is currently ranked by multiple MMA publications as the No. 1 welterweight in the world.

In 2008 and 2009, he was named the Canadian Athlete of the Year by Rogers Sportsnet as well as the 2008-2009 Most Outstanding Fighter by the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. GSP also won the Fighter of the Year award from the 2009 World MMA Awards.
