Red Lions zero in on quarterfinal vs Chiefs

MANILA, Philippines - San Beda mixes it up with Arellano U as it tries to boost its quarterfinal bid in the Filoil Flying V First Five Pre-Season Invitational Cup at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.

The Red Lions improved to 3-1 (win-loss) after their controversial victory by forfeiture over the Letran Knights last Saturday, hoping to zero in on the quarterfinal berth with a victory over the Chiefs in their 5 p.m. showdown.

Arellano, however, is also going all out for a win as the Chiefs try to even their card at 3-3 heading into the crucial phase of the elims of the tournament presented by Mighty Bond Extreme, with major sponsors Total Phils. Corp., San Marino Corned Tuna, Accel, Filoil Gas Company, Flying V and Hanesbrands, the official outfitter.

In the only other seniors match, the Knights (1-5), who walked out of the game against the Red Lions after Letran coach Louie Alas was ejected along with Mapua assistant coach Ed Cordero, take on the Emilio Aguinaldo College (0-5) side in a duel of ousted teams at 3 p.m.
