Animo triathlon raises funds for La Salle school for poor

-

MANILA, Philippines - Animo Sprint Triathlon 2010, an annual sports event for a cause where kids, adult novice and adult veteran triathletes get to display their prowess, kicks off at the La Salle Zobel and Narra Park at Ayala Alabang Village, Muntinlupa City June 12.

A project of the De La Salle Brothers for the benefit of St. Jaime Hilario-La Salle School for the Poor Scholarship Fund, the Animo’s third edition is a two-day affair where over 450 entries get to race under safer and near ideal conditions.

“We guarantee the beneficiary scholarship fund of P120,000 and the remainder of the proceeds from the two-in-one tilt (triathlon and aquathlon) goes to the training fund of the national triathletes honing for the 2010 Guangzhou Asian Games,” said RFM’s juices and beverage division general manager Greg Banzon, chief of the organizing Sunkist Tri Hard.

“The Animo Sprint Triathlon, which lures the biggest field in Metro Manila, has, aside from being a vehicle for fundraising, become a major feeder to the ever growing Subic International Triathlon,” said Tom Carrasco, president of the officiating Triathlon Association of the Philippines.

The benefit race, co-organized by De La Salle Zobel and Ayala Alabang Village with LSGH Class 81 as spearhead and officiated by TRAP, features triathlon and aquathlon competitions for the Super TriKids and adult beginners; and adult and La Salle division sprint triathlon.

A triathlon and fitness fair on June 12 serves as a side event. Booths with exhibits and product displays from triathlon related companies, lectures, games and competitions, and sampling and other merchandising activities, lots of fun and other attractions await visitors.
