Adamson, FEU go for share of lead

MANILA, Philippines - Adamson and Far Eastern U go for a share of the lead with idle Jose Rizal U in Group B as they take on separate rivals at resumption of action in the Filoil Flying V Tanduay Pre-Season Invitational Cup at the Flying V Arena in San Juan City.

The Falcons test the RP Youth U-18 team’s mettle in the 3 p.m. encounter, hoping to draw big games from Eric Camson and Alex Nuyles, who combined for 36 points in their 85-73 win over the UE Warriors last week.

But the Nationals are also expected to bounce back from their sorry loss to the Warriors with Kiefer Ravena and Jeron Teng expected to lead the team’s bid for its third win in five starts.

The Tams, on the other hand, also shoot for their third win in four games against the St. Benilde side at 1 p.m. The Blazers tote a 0-1 slate.

Meanwhile, Univ. of the Phils. seeks its third victory against two losses as it collides with Letran in Group A action at 5 p.m.

Both teams are coming off blowout losses to the league-leading Ateneo Eagles and are expected to go flat out for the win with the Knights hoping to improve their 1-2 mark.

In juniors play, FEU tries to recover lost ground as it faces Mapua even as Ateneo shoots for its second straight win against Jose Rizal U.

The Baby Tams swept their first two games but dropped a 62-85 loss to powerhouse San Beda in Group B action.

“San Beda is really a strong team,” said assistant coach Warren Gonzales, tasked to handle the Baby Tams in the off-season league. “We’ll make sure to work on our defense when we face Mapua.”

Mapua also hopes to bounce back from their 90-112 loss to Adamson as it goes for its second win in three games at 9 a.m.
