Freego backs FCBL tilt

MANILA, Philippines - In its effort to help young players achieve their goal of playing in the pro league someday, Freego has thrown its support anew to the Filipino Chinese Basketball League (FCBL) as part of its summer treat.

Freego officials are also convinced that the league, now on its third year, is the perfect vehicle to further enhance the interest and passion of high school players.

The league, known as Freego FCBL Cup 2010, provides the structure and the venue to showcase their skills which was significantly emphasized by four-time PBA Most Valuable Player winner Alvin Patrimonio during the opening of the league last April 10 at the Buddhacare gym in Quezon City.

While he encouraged the players to take the sport seriously, Patrimonio also challenged them to be a role model not only inside the court but also in the classroom in order to become a better citizen of a society which Freego espouses to its clients.

Ateneo and La Salle-Greenhills are the teams to beat. Xavier School and Chiang Kai Shek College, bitter rivals in the Tiong Lian Basketball League which is also being supported by Freego, are also competing along with Far Eastern U University of Santo Tomas, Adamson and Mapua.
