Cantada hosts amateur boxing

MANILA, Philippines - Some 90 boxers from around Metro Manila take the first step into big-time glory in the PCSO Metro-Manila Amateur Boxing Championships tomorrow at the Cantada Sports Center in Taguig City.

Sponsored by the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office, Tanduay, Mapecon and Cobra Energy Drink, the slugfest is another Joe Cantada Sports presentation aimed at sustaining the grassroots development and discovery of potential winners in international rings.

All the participants and officials from Caloocan, Mandaluyong, Antipolo, Payatas, Manila, Malabon and Taguig are provided with food and refreshments by the organizers at the Cantada Sports Center, the most equipped sports facility south of Manila.

“We even got the most able people to take care of them, including nutritious meals and medical attention during the tournament. And on the ring, they will only use top-of-the-line Everlast gloves and headgears with licensed international and national referees and judges to officiate,” said Edgardo “Boy” Cantada of Joe Cantada Sports.

Computerized scoring system will be used to determine the winners while action will be shown on nationwide NBN-4 and the worldwide ABS-CBN The Filipino Channel.
