MANILA, Philippines - Christine Patrimonio goes for a second straight championship in the Gov. Anacleto Alcala Memorial Cup National Open tennis tournament slated April 12-18 at the Lucena City Tennis Courts in Lucena City.
Patrimonio will be joined in the hunt for the crown by Bambi Zoleta, winner of the inaugural staging of the event held in honor of the founder of the Lucena City Tennis Club and sanctioned by the Philippine Tennis Association.
Defending champion PJ Tierro heads the roster of players in the men’s side of the event, which is expected to lure the country top-ranking players, according to Rolly Laureano, LCTC president.
The event also serves as the club’s contribution to the training program of the national players and at the same time help develop the sport, especially among the youth.
At stake are trophies and cash prizes.
