MANILA, Philippines - The Executive Runners Club of the Philippines (Runnex) holds a running clinic at UP Diliman Sunday to kick off its 2010 season.
A yearly program of Runnex the past 27 years, the running clinic has been expanded this year to respond to the growing demand for a friendlier, easier and injury-free running program.
“For 2010, our training program will center on promoting running as a lifetime pursuit to attain fitness, health and wellness,” said Rudy Fernandez, the newly elected Runnex chairman.
“We intend to make this 2010 running clinic the springboard for the club’s other major projects for the year,” said Dave de Leon, the newly elected club president.
Runnex’s culminating activity is the second Quezon City International Marathon (QCIM) on Dec. 5.
The other club-sponsored run is the 10-kilometer Executive Classic on May 23.
Dubbed as Discover Running Series, the 2010 Runnex clinic is offered in three phases. The first phase is a three-month program wherein the participants will be trained to develop the skills, stamina, and the proper motivation to run for at least 30 minutes.
“With this foundation, the trainees can then progress to the Discover Distance and Discover the Marathon phases of the clinic,” said De Leon.
The Runnex routes in UP Diliman offer a unique running experience for participants: measured and marked running routes closed to vehicular traffic, asphalt roads lined by hundreds of acacia trees in rolling terrain.
