Southwoods seniors invitational set

MANILA, Philippines - The country’s top golfing seniors take the spotlight next week as they slug it out for top honors in various divisions in the second Manila Southwoods Seniors Invitational tournament set Feb. 24-25 at the Legends and Masters courses in Carmona, Cavite.

Over a hundred pairs are expected to see action in the two-man team event, presented by Yamaha and American Wire and Cable Co., Inc, spread over two days with a shotgun tee-off time at 7:30 a.m.

Each team will be composed of one Southwoods seniors’ chapter member and his guest aged 55 years old and above with the maximum handicap for guest pegged at 24, according to the organizing committee headed by Southwoods seniors board vice president Paco Gonzalez and president Jose Cedo.

A brand-new Yamaha golf cart, courtesy of Kart Plaza, will be staked as hole-in-one prize in the event sponsored by the Boracay Sands Hotel, Fairways & Bluewater and Elro Commercial and Industrial Corp./Rider. Asia Pacific Golf Corp., Camp John Hay Dev’t Corp., Camp John Hay Manor, Cebu Pacific, Forest Hills Golf and Country Club, Manila Southwoods Manor, Rudy Project, SGV & Co., Sherwood Hills Golf Club and Warbird, MRT, and RELI are the hole sponsors.

Backing the tournament, to be played under the Molave scoring system, are CJH Project Management, Inc., Golden Nutritious, Marco Polo Plaza Cebu, Meridian Equipment Services, Inc. Evergood Unltd./SAECO, Petron Corp. and MJJ Printing Press, Inc. The field will be divided into three groups with the top two finishers in each category receiving fabulous prizes.

The other members of the Southwoods seniors board are Cres Bendijo, secretary, Rod Pepito, treasurer, and Mario Badillo, auditor.
