MANILA, Philippines - De La Salle-Lipa held off De La Salle-Zobel as it pulled off a 25-21, 25-17 victory to advance to the finals of the Toby’s Sports-Dunkin’ Donuts Junior Volleyball League last Sunday.
Arrianne Ilustre unloaded 13 kills while Patricia Ambal added six hits as DLS-Lipa pulled through to arrange a title showdown with Colegio San Agustin on Feb. 21.
CSA subdued PAREF Woodrose School, 25-18, 25-21, in the other semis match of the tournament backed by Shakey’s, Mikasa, Asics and Equipe.
The final is set at 12:30 p.m. at the Arellano University gym.
PAREF Woodrose School and De La Salle Zobel dispute third place honors at 10 a.m.
“This will be our third meeting and we hope to win the title this time,” said DLS-Lipa coach Imee Africa.
Sisters Josephine and Jean Sarona combined for 18 points for CSA.
In the boys’ division, defending champion Maximo Estrella Elementary School thwarted Concepcion Elementary School, 25-17, 25-22, to advance to the finals against Maximo Estrella Elementary School.
Zosimo Micutuan, Mark Marcellano and Aresh Usi combined for 21 points.
DLS-Lipa defeated CSA, 25-9, 25-19, behind Christian de la Cruz, Joshua Diaz and Levin Dimayuga, who scored 27 points among themselves.
