MANILA, Philippines - About 12,000 runners are expected to take part in a fun run dubbed “Run for Your Heart” organized by the Philippine Sports Commission on Feb. 14 starting and ending at the Quirino Grandstand.
The run, which is part of the activities lined up in celebration of the PSC’s 20th anniversary, will be participated in by members of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, Philippine National Police and employees of the PSC, Ateneo Law School, Greenhills Running Club, Pinoy Ultra Runners, Philippine Skyrunners Association and national athletes.
“This fun run is not only promoting wellness and a healthy lifestyle but also camaraderie and sportsmanship among participants,” said PSC chair Harry Angping.
The PSC chief said everyone is welcome to join the event sponsored by XTEP Corp. (China), Pepsi-Gatorade Corp. in cooperation with the Filipino-Chinese Amateur Athletic Federation.
Races on tap are in the 3k, 5k and 10k categories.
The run will pass through Roxas Boulevard and will end at designated areas within the Quirino grandstand.
Adding fanfare to the run which coincides with the first day of the “Year of the Tiger” are fireworks display, bands and dragon dances.
The top three in the 10k in both divisions will receive P10,000, P5,000, and P3,000, respectively, while the first to third placers in the 5k will get P5,000, P3,000 and P2,000.
