PWBL season opens Sunday at Metro gym

MANILA, Philippines - The Philippine Women’s Basketball League dubbed Burlington-Biofresh Cup fires off Sunday with eight teams vying for supremacy at the Metro gym in Mandaluyong.

The participating teams are Northern Samar-backed Adamson, Cebuana Lhuillier-Far Eastern University, University of Santo Tomas-Global Graphics, Philippine Maritime Institute (PMI), Lyceum-Jaguars, Army of Col. Buenaventura Pascual, RP team-I-Remit and Pascual-Lagundi.

The primer of the event, sponsored by LWUA chair Butch Pichay and Gov. Jun Jun Ynares of Rizal, will be aired tomorrow at 10:30 p.m. on Basketball TV.

Also backing the tournament organized and managed by PWBL under commissioner Nilo Fernandez are LWUA, Burlington Phils., BioFresh, Wilson, Everlast, Foton, Moldex, Atlanta, Nation, GSIS, Pagcor, PCSO, Northern Samar, Asics shoes and Molten.

The Lady Tamaraws start their title bid against Army at 1 p.m. while the Lady Falcons, the reigning UAAP champions, collide with I-Remit at 2:30 p.m. Clashing at 4 p.m. are UST and Lyceum-Jaguars while Pascual-Lagundi tangles with PMI at 5:30 p.m.
