Foreign bets vie in World Slashers Cup

MANILA, Philippines - Leading American and other foreign cockers will compete in the 2010 World Slashers Cup 8-Cock Invitational Derby slated Jan. 18, 19, 20, 21 and 23 at the historic Araneta Coliseum.

Big Dome’s derby coordinator Dong Lamoste, said foreign contingents from America, Germany, Japan, South America, and Malaysia are expected to challenge Filipino sportsmen in the event long regarded as the “Olympics of Cockfighting”.

Among those seeing action from the US team who are determined to break title drought in the event are Clarence Perkins of Kentucky; Hawaiian entry Lahaina Boys led by Kali Casco; Jeff Hudspeth from Ronda, North Carolina; Bill McNutt, Joe Wolcott, Bruce Barnette, Wilbert LeBlanc and Richard Harris of Louisiana; Roger Roberts of Georgia; Brad Padgette of Oregon; Damon Yorkman of Kentucky; Brian Corkren of Alabama & Kiana Borovies of Hawaii; Mike Formosa of Hawaii; Jorge “Goy” Goitia of California; Arthur Rhodes of Tenessee; and Ray Alexander of Alabama.
