MANILA, Philippines - The Magnolia non-master chess tournament (1950-below NCFP rapid rating) will be played on Nov. 7 from 10 a.m. at the Perez Building, Doña Soledad cor. Australia Sts, Better Living, Parañaque City.
The winner will receive P3,000 while the second and third placers will get P2,000 and P1,000, respectively.
The top category winners in the senior, kiddie and ladies divisions will also receive prizes, including Magnolia products gift packs.
The event is sponsored by Mayor Florencio Bernabe, Vice Mayor Gus Tambunting, councilor Jason Webb, Barangay Don Bosco chairman Jun Virata and Magnolia Health Tea Drinks.
Organized by Barangay Don Bosco Chess Club (BDBCC) headed by Bong Perez, the tournament is a seven round Swiss system event with each player given 25 minutes to finish the game.
