CSA tossers enter semis versus UST

MANILA, Philippines - Colegio San Agustin downed Diliman Prep, 25-6, 25-9, to book a semifinal berth in Group A of the Shakey’s Girls Volleyball League.

Denise Lazaro and Jamie Morado combined for 27 and carried CSA to the semis against defending champion University of Santo Tomas today.

In Group B, University of the Phil. Integrated School outplayed St. Joseph-Fairview, 25-6, 25-18, to advance to the semis of the event backed by Toby’s Sports, Mikasa, Asics and Mighty Sports.

Stella De Peralta fired a game-high 16 hits while Margie Genido tossed in 12 points for UPIS.

Imus Institute, behind Junnie Santos, Faith Chu and Charmille Belleza, survived Unida Christian College, 25-22, 14-25, 27-25.

The troika combined for 22 hits for the Imus-based squad, which shoots for a final berth against the winner of the St. James Academy-Grace Christian match.

The Group A quarterfinal matches will be played at the Ateneo Blue Eagle gym starting at 1 p.m. today with Hope Christian going up against Miriam College. Grace Christian tangles with St. James Academy at 2 p.m. while UST battles Colegio San Agustin at 3 p.m. 

Angeles University collides with San Antonio de Padua at 4 p.m.
