Tigresses eye quarters vs Lady Eagles

MANILA, Philippines - University of Santo Tomas sets out for its fifth straight victory in as many games but will have its hands full against Ateneo-OraCare even as San Sebastian and St. Benilde debut against separate rivals in the Shakey’s V-League Season 6 at The Arena in San Juan today.

The streaking Tigresses romped away with victories over Adamson, FEU, Lyceum and UP and are hoping to ride the momentum heading into their 4 p.m. match with the Lady Eagles, one of the teams’ fancied to foil the España-based squad’s bid for a sweep of the season’s twin conferences.

Focus will also be on the Lady Stags and the Lady Blazers, who finally get to see action after disputing the NCAA crown over the weekend. San Sebastian retained the championship but not after a big scare from a much-improved St. Benilde.

San Sebastian, which lost the first conference crown of the league sponsored by Shakey’s Pizza to UST last June, is tipped to roll past winless UP in the 6 p.m. main game but St. Benilde is expected to encounter stiff resistance against Adamson in the 2 p.m. opener.
