MANILA, Philippines - The 2009 Philippine Kayaking Series is expected to draw a big turnout when it is held Sept. 19-20 at the Cavite-Corregidor-Bataan route.
“The sun has been here for the past two days, so I hope it would last until the weekend,” said Philippine Kayaking Association president Val Camara during the PSA Forum at the Shakey’s U.N. Avenue branch yesterday.
The series shifts to the Cavite-Corregidor-Bataan route this time, which Camara stressed is one of the first established kayaking trails in the country during the session.
The race will be divided into advanced class and novice class, respectively.
For the advanced class kayakers, the meet is a grueling 42-k, two-leg marathon that will take them from Ternate, Cavite and circumnavigate Corregidor, Bataan.
For the novice participants, it will be a shorter 5k race in the waters of Caballo Island.
A free kayaking clinic is also scheduled for all beginners on the first day of the event.
