MANILA, Philippines - Liza del Rosario failed to sustain her charge and settled for bronze medal finish in women’s singles in the World Games at the Happy Bowling Center in Kaohsiung, Taiwan yesterday.
Finishing fifth in the first block with a 2440 total, Del Rosario safely made it to Top 10 by placing eighth on a 3618 aggregate then the Filipina bet sizzled in the round robin with 2170, including a 257 in the fifth game, to finish at No. 2.
But she faltered in the semis, falling to Finland’s Krista Pollanen, 210-215, for the bronze.
Pollanen went on to bag the gold medal by beating topnotcher Zara Glover, 407-378, in the final.
Chester King, meanwhile, missed a berth in the men’s top 10 round-robin stage as he came in at No. 11 with a 3698, 10 pins behind Osku Palermaa, also of Finland.
