Local coach big help to Nationals

MANILA, Philippines - PBA official Willy Marcial went to Medan ahead of the RP team to make sure all things needed by the Nationals are well taken care of. Making things easier for the RP delegation is the help of local coach Freddie Marcos Gorey.

Named after former Philippine president Ferdinand Marcos, Gorey, former coach of the Medan team in the Indonesia pro league, has been assisting the team in practically everything here.

A friend of Sta. Lucia top honcho Buddy Encarnado, Gorey said he considers the Philippines his second country.

“I was named by my parents after President Marcos who was visiting Indonesia in 1968 when I was born,” said the portly Indonesian. “I have a lot of Filipino friends and I look up to Filipino coaches and Filipino players.” – Nelson Beltran
