Hiso voted cycling chief; Ming re-elected
MANILA, Philippines – Former national cyclist Rolando Hiso was elected president of the Integrated Cycling Federation of the Philippines (PhilCycling) on Saturday in a poll supervised by the Philippine Olympic Committee, it was announced yesterday.
Hiso, 62, was chosen by an elected board composed of Manolito Moring, Loy Cruz, Cornelio Baylon, Manding Bautista, Ildefonso Vismanos, Boy Laspuna, Roy Arroyo, Ricky Cruz, Arnold Taberdo, Ric de Guzman, Cesar Filosopo and Reggie de Guzman.
Elected executive vice president was Ricky Cruz of Westcore.
The election, held at the Amoranto Stadium in Quezon City, was ordered by the POC after it was empowered by the International Olympic Committee to settle leadership disputes in national sports associations (NSAs).
POC president Jose Cojuangco last week announced that the revised IOC constitution and by-laws “have designated Olympic committees as final arbiters in intra-NSA leadership squabbles.”
Former First Lady Amelita Ramos was re-elected president of the Philippine Badminton Association on Saturday in a poll similarly supervised by the POC.
