MANILA, Philippines – Kobe Paras accounted for all but seven of his team’s points in the first quarter as Batang Alaska-Quezon City pounced on Batang Coca-Cola-San Pedro, 81-24, on Thursday and moved within a win of sweeping its group elimination in the Coca-Cola Batang PBA Summer League.
Kobe, son of former PBA star and comedian Benjie Paras, scored 15 of his 17 points in the opening period, propelling the Batang Aces to a 22-6 lead that was never threatened the rest of the way.
Martin Mendoza took scoring honors with 20 points and Kenneth Guevarra had nine for the Batang Aces, who streaked to their third straight win in Group B at the Olivarez College Gym in Parañaque.
Batang Coca-Cola-San Pedro fell to 2-2.
Batang Sta. Lucia-Cainta pulled through with a 30-28 decision over Batang Barangay Ginebra-Pasay, also on Thursday to improve to 1-1 in Group A.
Randolf Perez scored 10 points and Dominic de Lara added nine for the Batang Realtors. Joseph Navarro had 11 points for Pasay which picked up its second loss in a row.
On Wednesday, Batang Barako Bull-Marikina clobbered Batang San Miguel Beer-Taytay, 57-40, to go 1-1 in Group B in a tie with the Batang Beermen.
