MANILA, Philippines - Edgar Lee scored a net 67 to capture the Group I crown while Jackneil So lorded it over the field in Group 2 with a net 62 in the Architects Golf Club monthly tournament at the Mimosa Golf Club in Clark Field, Pampanga recently.
Lee, who had a gross 78, overwhelmed the field as he posted a four-point victory over Mike Peña, who had a net 71 from a gross 85 while Paul Henry de Dios, a 9-handicapper, took third place with a net 72.
So, who shot a gross 80, also scored a runaway victory in Group II, beating Molly Reyes by five points. Reyes, a 16-handicapper, turned in a gross 83 then nipped Alvin Vega, with a 67 from a gross 86, in the countback for runner-up honors.
Nepthy del Rosario parred No. 16 to edge Efren Gonzales in the countback and claim the Group III plum in the event sponsored by Boysen Paints, Bryan Isaiah Trading and Const., Chuayuco Steel/Excel Roof, Coach Concepts and Designs and Crown Pipes.
Del Rosario, a 21-handicapper, shot a gross 86 for a net 65 while Gonzales, a 23-handicapper, made a gross 88 but lost in the countback with a double-bogey mishap on No. 16. Sonny Esguerra placed third with a 68 from a gross 91.
Dong Abello essayed a two-point win in Group IV with a net 65 from a gross 90, defeating Bobby Cheng by two points. Cheng, a 28-handicapper, made a 67 and nipped Manny Ko, who had a gross 91, in the countback to finish second.
Paulynn Pacia shot a gross 100 for a net 64 as he topped Group V with a one-point victory over Greg Concepcion, who had a 65 from a gross 94 and edged Mikee Da Jose, who also had a gross 94, in the countback for runner-up honors in the tournament backed by Expert Interior, Famcor Glass Works, Jellco Enterprises, Julant/Pycor Premise-SC, KC Industrial and Kuysen Enterprises, Inc.
Meanwhile, the organizing AGC said registration for the April tournament will start this week with the fourth leg of the series slated April 16 at the Sherwood Golf Club in Cavite. Listup for the AGC anniversary tournament on May 18 at the Baguio Country Club and on May 19 at Camp John Hay is ongoing.
