Orduna trains sights on Asian junior title

After clinching the ROK Junior Novice Karter of the Year award, young champion karter Joey Orduna of Ready2Race is setting his sights on the overall Asian ROK Junior crown as the 2008 Asian Karting Open Championships winds up Nov. 27-30 at Kartodromo de Coloane Circuit in Macau.

The 13-year-old Orduna, a student of International School-Manila, made another impressive performance to capture the Shell Karting ROK Junior Novice plum with the support from Tuason Racing School, Tony Kart, OTK kart parts, HJC Auto Helmets, Sparco Racing, AIM Racing gauges, Oakley Race Gear, Golden Harvest Integrated Services & Shipping, BANPU, Barwil-Smith Bell Shipping, Rio-Tinto, FARM and FORD Batangas.

He clocked in 18 minutes and 36.436 seconds to complete his sweep in the final race and wrap up a close fight for the title with a total of 494 points, or just two points ahead of Renz Pazcoguin.

Orduna left recently with hopes of delivering the same title-clinching feat in Macau.

“To win the Asian Junior ROK crown will be my biggest achievement. The title is within reach and I’ll do my best to win it for the Philippines,” said Orduna who emerged the Mini-ROK champion of the Shell Karting Series last year.
