Sherwood Chairman Cup tees off

Sherwood Hills, rated by the Golf Digest International (GDI), the world’s No. 1 golf magazine, as the 85th best golf course outside of the US and No. 1 in Southeast Asia, will host the Chairman’s Cup today in Trece Martirez, Cavite.

A full field of 160 participants, with club chairman Robert John Sobrepeña and sports and games head Jimmy Borromeo in the lead, will play in the two-man, best ball tournament which is Sherwood Hills’ show of gratitude to the members for their usual support.

“The members are our driving force to continuously improve Sherwood Hills. The international award bestowed upon Jack Nicklaus’ signature course makes us proud, not only in the country, but also in the international scene,” Sobrepeña said.

Sobrepeña said that a couple of weeks after getting the GDI certificate, www.golf007.com, Asia’s leader in golf website based in China, also gave Sherwood Hills a four-star rating as one of the Asian region’s top courses and a must-play in the Philippines.

“We are greatly honored by these distinctions. That’s why we have prepared a fun-filled Chairman’s Cup for our members,” Sobrepeña said of the Mexican-themed affair, which will have food stations every other hole.
