After achieving a nationwide conquest early this year, ace Cebuano driver David Lim of DGL Motorsports uncorked another impressive record-breaking feat recently in the PALumba sa Masskara 2008 in Bacolod City.
Lim impressed the crowd with his record-breaking feat aboard his Honda Chop Top that set a new national speed record of 244.23 kilometers per hour on a quarter mile track recognized by the governing Automobile Association Philippines.
Mato Tan, also of DGL Motorsports/Matonetics, won the prestigious Quick 8 crown also on board Lim’s Honda Chop Top.
Lim, driving his Mitsubishi Evolution, also posted the best time, clocking 10.03 seconds in the PALumba event.
It was a big treat for Bacolod racing fans who watched close to a hundred racers from Manila, Cebu, Davao, Iloilo and homegrown Bacolod bets compete for the various titles at stake.
Winning the other titles in this event organized by the Out of the Box Events and Production were in Class A, Elben Jay Pang of Davao who turned back Bacolod’s Michael Lim; Peterson Lim in Class B; Iloilo’s Jim Michael Tan who ruled Class C over Bacolod’s Jed Yulo and Cebuano Napoleon Ricamora who won over Bacolod’s Richard Weber in Class D.
DGL is set to embark on another challenge this month as the 2008 San Mig Coffee Drag Racing Championship stages its very first race at the newly built Clark International Speedway on Nov. 15.
