Due to some very important matters, Manny Pacquiao took a very quick break from his training as he arrived from Manila last night from Los Angeles.
His wife, Jinkee, confirmed news that spread yesterday afternoon that Pacquiao, gearing up for a huge Dec. 6 showdown with Oscar dela Hoya, was due to arrive.
“It’s only for one day,” said Jinkee.
Pacquiao left for Los Angeles last Sunday, then rested the next two days since he was suffering from the cold virus. He reported at the gym Wednesday.
Sports analyst Ronnie Nathanielz broke news of Pacquiao’s unexpected arrival over the Internet, saying the boxer was “concerned over his funds” deposited in the Philippines.
A report said Pacquiao “was worried about the effects of the financial turmoil in the US that has sparked a worldwide crisis.”
Pacquiao reportedly was disturbed and wanted to make sure that his earnings, probably in the hundreds of millions in pesos, were safe.
If they are, then Pacquiao should be flying back to LA by tomorrow.
There are still 75 days left before the Dela Hoya fight, and Pacquiao should have enough time, nine to 10 weeks to train granting that he’s back in LA by the middle of this week.
“If that’s the reason then let’s give Manny the break. We all know he has huge deposits here and maybe he just needs some assurance, some peace of mind,” an insider said.
“Mahirap naman siya mag-train na iba ang iniisip,” he added.
