BACOLOD – PBA board chairman Tony Chua called a special board meeting here Saturday night but failed to come up with formal resolutions in the absence of a quorum.
The board was to discuss the bidding for the next TV coveror of the league.
Contending for the exclusive PBA TV rights are ABS-CBN and Solar Sports. Makisig Channel is looking to catch up but some PBA officials doubt the seriousness of the late bid.
Board members present here are Chua, Joaqui Trillo of Alaska, Robert Non of Barangay Ginebra, Rene Pardo of Purefoods, Ricky Vargas of Talk n Text and Lito Alvarez of Air21.

The PBA donated two houses to Gawad Kalinga Foundation as part of the league’s outreach program here.
PBA media bureau chief Willie Marcial said the league intends to donate more to Gawad Kalinga’s projects in other parts of the country.

Some PBA teams are making the most out of the brief Fiesta Conference break, looking for a more dependable import abroad.
There was word that Barangay Ginebra is fielding in a second import replacement at the resumption of the tourney.
Purefoods’ Darius Rice may also be on the way out as the team is said to be getting increasingly dissatisfied with his performance.
Apparently, the team’s biggest complaint is Rice being too much of a ball-hog, limiting the touches of the Purefoods locals. – Neltran Beltran
