Belgian dominates Asian Formula 3 GP

Belgian Frederic Vervisch, driving for Team Goddard, won four of the six races in a grand performance in the  the Castrol Philippine Asian F3 Grand Prix at the Batangas Racing Circuit last weekend.

The race, the final event of the 2007-8 Asian Formula Three Series, attracted a strong overseas contingent  for the six-race finale I supported by Castrol Philippines, Pagcor, Toyota Motor Philippines, Lima City Hotel and Stoplight TV.

Vervisch’s teammate, Brazilian Rafael Suzuki, won the first race over Briton Matt Howson.  Vervisch finished third. Disaster struck Team Goddard in the following race when both cars stalled on the grid, allowing Howson to win and close the championship points gap on Vervisch.

However, Vervisch responded by winning all four of the remaining races and wrapped up the title in style. Series rookie Ed Pead of England twice made the podium while Peter Kalpakiotis was the Promotions Class winner.

Vervisch will now test-drive a Force India F1 car as his prize for winning the series. The races will air on Stoplight TV on Studio 23 races over the next few weeks.
