Sidelight: Pacman to get own LA condo

-
LAS VEGAS — The next time Manny Pacquio trains in Los Angeles, probably next March where a fight with Marco Antonio Barrera is being considered, he may no longer need to rent a place to stay.

According to a Team Pacquiao insider, the 27-year-old Filipino multi-millionaire has already acquired or at least is close to acquiring a place of his own, reportedly an apartment or condominium with eight units.

For his last three fights in the US since last year, Pacquiao has stayed in posh condominiums worth around $4,000 a month. He rents it two months before the fight or when he starts training.

When he fought Erik Morales last year, Pacquiao stayed at the Oakwood Condominium along Sunset Blvd. Since then, he has rented a bigger unit at the La Pallazo in La Brea, LA.

Both places are just a few minutes drive to the Wild Card Gym where he trains under Freddie Roach.

Pacquiao has earned millions of dollars in his last four fights over the last two years, and has wisely invested in properties like his 2,500-square meter mansion in Gen. Santos City, among others.

Pacquiao, who started from humble beginnings, also couldn’t hide his love for cars, the latest acquisition being the 2007 Mercdes Benz SL550, an all-black convertible which he drives around town these days.

He also has a Lincoln Navigator here and last year bought a Porsche Cayene, which Pacquiao has shipped home two months ago. He maintains a fleet of cars back home, including his favorite, a huge, white van worth P3 million. Abac Cordero
