Unknown to many, the Philippine Banana Growers and Exporters Association (PBGEA) has long been supporting the national athletes with regular weekly supply of exportable bananas.
Philippine Sports commissioner Leon Montemayor said the PBGEA has been supplying the national athletes with 80 crates (13 kilos each) of bananas weekly for three years running now.
Most members of the association, headed by Rodolfo del Rosario who is a cousin of Montemayor, are based in Mindanao.
"Actually, there are many more who want to help but were not able to tap them, most specially the foreign-owned companies," said Montemayor. Neltran Beltran
