Samsung Electronics Philippines Corp. (SEPCO) is renewing its corporate support and naming rights to the Philippine preliminary. The consumer electronics company has been helping popularize WCGs vision to bring the local e-sports community together since 2002.
In addition to its support of the game industry, Samsung believes there is a strong need to maximize the beneficial effects of games by nurturing a sound and healthy gaming culture.
"Samsung is committed to promote programs geared towards youth and development. Enabling young Filipinos to compete in the World Cyber Games offers two of the most stimulating and enjoyable activities for todays youth sports and digital entertainment," says SEPCO president and CEO Hyuck Jae Shim.
The World Cyber Games is the worlds first "Cyber Game Festival", designed to build a cyber culture based on goodwill and camaraderie. As the Olympics embody harmony and peace by bringing together the worlds athletes every four years, WCG seeks to achieve the same effect in electronic gaming every year.
