Olympia jins overpower rivals at SM Megamall

Team Olympia ran away with the overall championship in the novice class of the grade school division while Lourdes School of Mandaluyong edged four other teams to rule the advance side of the SM Summer Sports-Megamall Championship held Thursday and Friday at the SM Megamall.

The Olympia jins swept the Group I-A2 category to underscore the team’s romp in the event serving as part of a series of summer sports activities held under the auspices of the Philippine Taekwondo Association and hosted by the SM supermalls.

Joel Codina bagged the gold, Jomar Lalacsan took the silver while Christian Lumandes and Jeremiah Serrano settled for bronze medals in the tournament exclusively for players 7-8 years old.

Other winners for Team Olympia were Tristan Dayrit (Group I-A1), John Paul Romero (Group I-B2), Jeffrey de Leon (Group 2B), Nicholo Romulo (Group 3A), Terence Romero (Group 3B), Myrlita Lalacsan (girls-Group 1-B), and Ellaine Guiangan (Group 4).

The Olympia jins capped their domination of the boys’ and girls’ sides by copping four silvers and seven bronze medals in the tournament organized by the International Management Group.

UP Integrated School won three golds courtesy of Marco Gucilatar (Group 4), Izza Casanare (Group 2) and Felicia Pilares (Group 5). The Diliman-based squad also came away with four silvers and six bronze medals.

The Lourdes jins, on the other hand, bagged two golds in the advance category with Gyle Genoso winning over Aaron Raterta of UPIS in Group 3 and Mark Dizon beating teammate Troy Baliqued in Group 5.

UPIS, Bonifacio Naval School, Caloocan and Olympia won one gold each at the close of the mall-hopping series which visited the various SM malls in Lucena, Southmall, Bacoor, Fairview, Pampanga, Marilao and Baguio.
