Acknowledged as the first truly world-class racetrack development in the country, the SLLP is a 77-hectare horse racing facility that is envisioned to become the new "Mecca" of local racing, as well as, a pride for Philippine tourism.
"The start of horse racing activities at the San Lazaro Leisure Park is another new milestone in the rich history of the Manila Jockey Club, the countrys oldest and premier race club, which continues to lead the way in the forward development of the local horse racing industry," noted MJCI president and chief executive Alfonso Reyno, Jr.
Situated in a sprawling terrain that is auspiciously shaped like the head of a horse, the San Lazaro Leisure Park facilities include no less than two all-weather race tracks, a state-of-the-art Turf Club, expensive and fully-equipped stabling facilities for more than 960 horses, as well as, provisions for an equestrian center and residential subdivisions for direct industry players.
"This ambitious undertaking would not have been made possible without the crucial support and dedicated commitment of our board of directors, as they have wholeheartedly encouraged us to steadfastly pursue this dream project to its eventual fruition," Reyno added.
A steady stream of race horses have already been transferred to the SLLP stables over the past weeks, in preparation for the start of MJCIs six-day racing program which will also begin tomorrow with a scheduled card of night races.
