The Green Archers last Sunday streaked to a ninth straight victorya 4-0 shutout of Santo Tomas University and one of only two triumphs it clinched in nine full innings this seasonand could complete the sweep and automatically clinch the title if it repeats over University of the Philippines beginning at noon at the Rizal Memorial diamond.
But UP, its pride it has to boost if it wants to salvage what is left of its arsenal that clinched the title last season, could be digging deep for their second meeting this season and perhaps shock the unbeaten leaders and send the championship race to a playoff.
The Maroons are running second with a 7-2 win-loss record, the other setback they absorbed at the hands of UST in the first round. They stayed in the hunt by drubbing Adamson, the only other team that pushed the Green Archers to nine innings in the season, 10-3, also last Sunday.
The loss pushed the Falcons down to third with a 5-4 card, followed by UST with 4-5, Ateneo 2-7 and tournament host National University with 0-9. Adamson and Ateneo clash in todays other match at 10:30 a.m.
Other fields where De La Salle is making waves include lawn tennis and girls volleyball, which were also played during the weekend at the Rizal Sports Club in Pasig City and the UE gym, respectively.
