Future PBL stars to show wares

The country’s brightest future cage superstars display the stuff they’re made of in the 2002 PBL Showcase set tomorrow at the Makati Coliseum.

Close to 70 PBL luminaries will take part in this showcase of individual skills and incredible stunts as they vie for the titles in the 2-Ball Competition, the Three-Point Shoot-Out, the Slalom Event and the highlight of the show — The Slam-Off.

The showcase starts at 3 p.m.

"This is a fitting end to a very successful year. This is PBL’s way of showing its appreciation to all loyal PBL fans this Yuletide season as we’ve chosen only the best for this biggest show of individual talents," said PBL commissioner Chino Trinidad.

Trinidad also said this is the best avenue for the players to reveal their "other talents" spectators wouldn’t see in regular PBL games.

The biggest revelation last year was MC Caceres, who bagged the Slam-Off crown. Then just a bench-warmer for Shark, Caceres sent the crowd in awe as he jumped over a man and then took off his sweat shirt in mid-air before making the slam dunk.

"If last year’s PBL Showcase turned out a big revelation of talents, expect the third staging of the PBL Showcase to be more exciting with the incredible stunts from PBL’s best show artists," added Trinidad.
