Juvenile stakes race today at San Lazaro

Manila Jockey Club, Inc. (MJCI) hosts the start of the 2002 PHILRACOM Juvenile Stakes Series with an impressive card of four top money events carrying a combined pot of P2.7-million today at the San Lazaro Hippodrome.

Dubbed as the "Philracom Juvenile Racing Carnival," the event will showcase some of the country’s emerging track stars from the two-year-old division, battling it out in the featured P1-million Bishop Blue and Cool Star Stakes Races, as well as in the companion twinbill Hopeful Stakes Race.

Set to clash in the P1-million Cool Stakes Races are six classy two-year-old fillies led by recent Sweepstakes race winner Real Diamond. Challenging her for the crown are Doña Gelay, impressive winner of three races in four starts and the still undefeated Shinning Pyramid. Others also in the hunt are Forever Joyce, Tatler Cover and Noor.

Meanwhile, five precocious two-year-old colts are set to square off in the P1-million Bishop Blue Stakes Race, set over a sprint distance of 1,425 meters. Coupled-entries High Octane and Real Tough from the Esguerra Stable are expected to be installed as favorites. High Octane by Hazm out of Rosegardenqueen is still undefeated after four starts while Real Tough is a full brother to champion galloper Real Top. Set to challenge the pair are Brute Force, undefeated Diktador and Main Event.
