Paeng banners RP bid in bowl finals

Four-time World Cup champion Paeng Nepomuceno led the crack Philippine team in the mens and womens divisions of the CGU Asian Bowling Tour (CGU ABT) Grand Slam Finals which got underway yesterday at the Cathay Bowl of National Service Resort and Country Club in Singapore.
The top 16 bowlers on the Tour ranking after eight legs are vying for the crown while two wildcards are granted to two bowlers from West Asia --- Khalifa S. Al Khalifa and Ahmad Shaheen, both from Qatar.
Bowlers clash for quarterfinals seats in the round robin matches until today followed by the one-game knock-out format set tomorrow and Saturday, which will be telecast live on ESPN at 4 p.m.
Aside from Nepomuceno, who ranked second with 169.8 points heading into the finals, the other Filipino bowlers competing are Chester King, Biboy Rivera, Liza del Rosario and Cecilia Yap.
The event is presented by AMF Bowling Products, sanctioned by the Asian Bowling Federation and organized by ESPN STAR Sports.
