NCAA games reset due to bad weather

A damp, slippery playing court caused by a heavy downpour in the morning forced the NCAA management committee headed by Rachab Cunanan of host Philippine Christian University to cancel all five games lined up yesterday at the Rizal Memorial Coliseum.

Three matches in the seniors division, including one between Mapua and Letran, which was actually called off last Monday due to a malfunctioning game clock, and two in the juniors division, were affected. The games will instead be played at the end of the second round.

Players from Mapua and Letran were already warming up for a 10 a.m. match when they complained of the slippery floor. The cancellation of yesterday’s classes in some member schools also led to the decision to halt the games. Sunday’s game will go on as scheduled.

Aside from the Mapua-Letran match, also cancelled were seniors and juniors matches between San Sebastian and San Beda, and defending champion St. Benilde against unbeaten leader Jose Rizal University.
