Toledo-Xignex Trojans aim for another history
CEBU, Philippines — The Toledo-Xignex Trojans etched their name in stone after seizing the South Division crown of the 2024 Professional Chess Association of the Philippines (PCAP) SGM Wesley So Cup undefeated in 24 matches.
Prior to that, the Trojans became the first team to complete a 22-0 sweep in the elimination round since PCAP’s inception four years ago.
Now, the Trojans eye another piece of history as the first national champion of the country’s first professional chess league with a perfect record.
The Trojans hope to achieve that monumental feat when they clash with the North titleholders Manila Load Manna Knights in the highly anticipated Grand Finals scheduled at 7:20 p.m. today (Wednesday, November 6).
Toledo booked another championship ticket after knocking out the Camarines Soaring Eagles, while Manila moved on the doorstep of defending their national throne after terminating the San Juan Predators.
The ultimate battle for supremacy is expected to be a grudge rematch of last conference’s finals.
