2 Negros Occidental policemen dismissed for drug use

Marchel P. Espina - The Freeman

BACOLOD CITY, Philippines – Two police officers in Negros Occidental were discharged from service after testing positive in illegal drugs use.

This was confirmed by Senior Superintendent Milko Lirazan, director of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, saying the dismissed policemen were found positive for drug use during a recent drug test.

Lirazan said four policemen of NOPPO actually tested positive for illegal drugs but only two of them were served with a dismissal order.

In Western Visayas, a total of eight policemen were sacked due to involvement in illegal drugs, he said.

Earlier, three policemen in the province were killed allegedly due to their active campaign against illegal drugs. The suspects, three of them were police officers, are now facing murder charges.
