ORMOC CITY, Philippines — The city’s administration Lakas-CMD candidates filed their CoCs at the Comelec amid the cheers of red-shirted supporters lining up the streets and red flaglets-bedecked convoy.
The candidates were led by Edward “Ondo” Codilla the anointed successor of last-termer City Mayor Eric “Beboy” Codilla who will vie for a congressional seat in the 4th district of Leyte against reelectionist Lucy Torres Gomez of the LP.
Ondo is the 3rd child of former congressman and city mayor Eufrocino Codilla, Sr., and brother of the Mayor Beboy of this city and reelectionist Mayor Elmer Codilla of Kananga town in Leyte. Together with his wife Violy, Ondo is a successful construction businessman.
Ondo, with his expertise in business and the tutelage of his brother Beboy, believed he can manage well the growing city. Carrying the taglines “man of the masses” and “a true Ormocanon,” Ondo said he is confident that he and his ticket will hear and act on the voices of all sectors in the city.
His vice mayoralty bet is Dennis Capuyan, while his bets for councilors are: Incumbent Vice Mayor Nepomuceno Aparis, Ruben Capahi, Lea Villar, Filomeno Maglasang, Demosthenes Tugonon, Rafael Omega, Antonio Codilla, Geodiardo Ebcas, Jovencio Laurente and Jose Conejos.
Beboy, for his part, told The Freeman that he is optimistic that the Ormocanons will support the ticket “because Ondo and the rest of the candidates share the same vision for the good of the city and the populace.”
On his congressional bid, Beboy said he will continue to serve the people in Ormoc even while in Congress, and would replicate the formula of success in the city to other LGUs in the 4th District. “People empowerment to our brothers and sisters in neigbouring towns shall be the key for the whole district to grow hand in hand,” he said.
