DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines – The most wanted person in Dauin, Negros Oriental was finally arrested after about 12 years in hiding following the filing of a rape case against him for allegedly molesting his teenage daughter.
A police report said the 48-year old suspect, whose name has been withheld to protect the identity of the victim, arrived on a commercial flight last Saturday afternoon, escorted by Sr. Insp. George Badon, Dauin Police chief, and SPO1 Joel Alcala, after he was arrested in Tanauan City, Batangas.
The suspect was arrested by virtue of an Alias Warrant of Arrest issued by Judge Rogelio Carampatan of the Regional Trial Court Branch 31 in relation to Criminal Case No. 16514 for rape, which is a non-bailable offense.
The police report said joint personnel of the Dauin Police and the Tanauan Police arrested the suspect at a house in Batangas City at dawn Friday after he was sighted there.
Police and court records show that after the suspect allegedly raped his 15-year old daughter sometime in 2003. He fled Negros Oriental following the filing of a criminal complaint against him.
The suspect, who is now detained at the Dauin Police station, denied the allegation saying he went into hiding in his original home town in Batangas for fear of his life.
