ILOILO CITY, Philippines — Two plastic sachets of suspected shabu were recovered from a female visitor of the Iloilo Provincial Integrated Jail (IPIJ) at Brgy. Nanga in Pototan town of Iloilo.
Marissa Jamandre, 35, a resident of Muelle Loney St., Iloilo City, submitted herself to a search Saturday afternoon.
Senior Jail Officer 1 Leo Lacerna, investigator of the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology-6, said the duty jailguard first saw five empty sachets tucked in a pack of cotton.
When further search was made on his groceries, a plastic sachet of suspected shabu was found in a plastic pack of instant noodles while another sachet was recovered inside a plastic pack of chips.
She intended to bring grocery supply to inmate Joel Barcebas, who was jailed for charges of murder, violation of Republic Act 6425 (illegal drugs), and other crimes against persons.
Barcebas used to be imprisoned at the BJMP District Jail in Brgy. Ungka, Jaro, Iloilo City but was transferred at IPIJ last January 2012 after his involvement in a stabbing incident.
