DUMAGUETE CITY, Philippines — One of the highlights of the city's 63rd Charter Day and Fiesta celebration is the 2011 beauty pageant, which will have eight candidates vying for the Miss Dumaguete title and eight others for the Miss Teen Dumaguete title.
This year's pageant theme is "Celebrating Post-modernism of a Dumagueteña," thus Dumagueteños shall expect various spectacles that would expose the candidates as post-modern women.
The pre-pageant and Fashiorama Night will be held on Monday (Nov. 21) at the Lamberto Macias Sports Complex while the Pageant and Coronation Night will be on Wednesday (Nov. 23) at the same venue.
The candidates for Miss Dumaguete are: Gesta Riva Gamo representing Poblacion 3, Marie Cris Garcia for Brgy. Batinguel, Chloe Marie Harris (for Talay), Geraldine Villasam (for Buñao), Aletheia Faith Elwood (for Daro), April Rose Alquisola (for Motong), Sheila May Laspinas (for Banilad), and Melba Ann Macasaet (for Taclobo).
The candidates for Miss Teen Dumaguete are: Ronalyn Ann Rigala representing Taclobo High School, Rushel Jean Limbaga (Herminigilda F. Gloria Memorial HS), Julie Canoy (Piapi HS), Cherry Ann Lanciso (Junob National HS), Mary Angelique Banogon (Ramon Teves Pastor Memorial-Dumaguete Science HS), Alaizah Dawn Lasola (Negros Oriental HS), Mary Joy Ceriales (Dumaguete City HS), and Jelly Anne Abiera (Camanjac HS).
The major titles are: Ms. Dumaguete 2011, Ms. Teen Dumaguete 2011, and their respective first runners-up and 2nd runners-up awards.
The minor titles are Sandurot Girl 2011, Tayada Girl 2011 and Kabulakan Girl 2011, while the special awards are Lady Chic, Lady Articulacy, Lady Civility and Lady Spontaneity.
Pageant organizers have invited Senators Vicente Sotto, III and Gringo Honasan to be the coronation's guests of honor and speakers. (FREEMAN)
