BACOLOD CITY, Philippines -- Two more towns have new chiefs of police starting last Monday, Chief Inspector Regidor Alvarado, administrative officer of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office, said.
Inspector Varie Villanobos was named chief of police of Don Salvador Benedicto, while Senior Inspector Robert Mansueto was named chief of police of Moises Padilla, Alvarado said.
This brought to 27 the number of chiefs of police installed since March 21, leaving only the towns of Ilog, Toboso and Binalbagan, and San Carlos City still to have their respective police chiefs.
Senior Supt. Allan Gusihan, police provincial director, earlier said the 31 chiefs of police were relieved last March 1 for "re-orientation, retraining, and evaluation of their performances."
He added that the "total revamp" was due to the dismal performances of several chiefs of police in the campaign against illegal gambling, and some of them have been overstaying in their positions already.— (FREEMAN)
