Tourism Summit preps underway

- Ric V. Obedencio -

TAGBILARAN CITY, Philippines – Preparations are now being undertaken by the Provincial Tourism Council (PTC) for the holding of the Provincial Tourism Summit slated on June 1-2, this year.

PTC chairman Lucas Nunag said the summit is expected to spell out tourism activities and services adhering to one-town-one-product concept to develop tourist attractions of a particular LGU without duplicating those offered by other LGUs.

Among the preparations is the creation of a core group.

The core group first convened last February 14 and would start work on March 7. This will be followed by the launching of pre-summit consultations and orientation workshops for stakeholders on March 18.

Stakeholders are divided into groups, as follows: Hotels/SPAs/lodging houses/restaurants; transport (tricycle, sea, land and air); and travel operators and tour guides.

Other stakeholders – food suppliers and non-food suppliers, health and wellness, sports operators, eco-cultural component and academe and other training institutions – are also expected to participate in the summit. – THE FREEMAN
