PSC tiwalang maaayos ang gusot sa WADA

MANILA, Philippines — Tiwala ang Philippine Sports Commission (PSC) na maaayos ang isyu nito sa World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA) na nagbantang papatawan ng suspensiyon ang Pilipinas na lumahok o mag-organisa ng international competitions.

Mismong si PSC chairman Richard Bachmann na ang optimistikong nagpahayag nito kasama sina PSC executive director Paulo Tatad at Philippine National Anti-Doping Organization (PHI-NADO) officer Nathan Vasquez.

Nagpasaklolo na ang PSC sa Malacañang upang maaayos ang gusot.

“We are working with Malacañang with the le­gislative requirements of WADA. The help of Malacañang is greatly appreciated,” ani Bachmann.

Iginiit ni Bachmann na kailangang palakasin pa ng husto ang PHI-NADO upang lubos itong nakasusunod sa mga requirements ng WADA.

“Right now ang trato namin sa PHI-NADO is like an NSA. We just fund them. Siguro dapat independent na sila,” ani Bachmann.

Matatandaang sinulatan ng WADA ang PSC noong Enero matapos mabigong makumpleto ang mga kailangan sa WADA Code.

Umapela ang PSC sa WADA at kasalukuyang nasa Court of Arbitration in Sports (CAS) na ang huling desisyon sa isyu.

Siniguro ni Bachmann na ginagawa na ng PSC at PHI-NADO ang lahat para matiyak na plantsado ang lahat bago bumisita ang WADA representatives sa susunod na buwan.

“Other countries within Southeast Asia are also experiencing it right now. That’s why we would look at this as an opportunity. Now we have the stakeholders that are more conscious on what needs to be done,” ani Tatad.

Nakikipagtulungan na rin ang PSC sa Philippine Olympic Committee at mga National Sports Association para maisaayos ang lahat.

“The Office of the Pre­sident is helping us and the POC and the NSAs (national sports associations) are more colla­borative. If we have that in place, rest assured we will not have this administrative issues moving forward,” dagdag ni Tatad.

Kung mapapatawan ng suspensiyon, hindi maa­aring makalahok ang Pilipinas sa SEA Games, Asian Games at Olympic Games gamit ang Philippine flag.

Makakapagpartisipa pa rin ang mga kwalipikadong Pinoy athletes sa Paris Olympics ngunit nasa ilalim ito ng IOC flag.

Bawal din mag-host ang Pilipinas ng anumang international tournaments.
