MANILA, Philippines — May posibilid na ang pagdagsa ng maraming Chinese maritime militia sa Iroquis Reef na kabilang sa teritoryo ng Pilipinas ay para kontrolin ang nasabing lugar.

Ito ang pahayag ng Phi­lippine Coast Guard (PCG) sa isang panayam nitong Sabado sa Radyo DzBB, kaugnay sa “swarming” o presensya ng maraming Chinese maritime militia sa Iroquois Reef.

Ayon kay West Philippine Sea Commodore Jay Tarriela, hindi lang ito ang unang pagkakataon na nagkaroon ng maniobra ang China.

“Sa Philippine Coast Guard, we already had this experience of reporting this swarming of Chinese maritime militia. Sa aming pag-analisa, ang intensyon nito is to swarm a particular area and to take control of it,” ani Tarriela.

Gayunman, ito umano ang unang pagkakataon na nakita nila ang malaking bilang ng mga barko ng China sa lugar.

Noong Biyernes nang iulat ng Philippine military ang namataang higit 50 barko ng China sa bisinidad ng Iroquois Reef at Sabina Shoal sa West Philippine Sea (WPS).

Maliban pa rito ang inulat ng Philippine Navy na ang mga barkong pa­ngisda ng China ay hindi naman nanghuhuli ng isda.

Maliban sa Chinese fishing vessels, tatlong barko ng China Coast Guard (CCG) at dalawang barko ng People’s Liberation Army Navy  ang regular na nag-iikot malapit sa Sabina Shoal.

“Ang Iroquois Reef ay southern part ng Recto Bank, dito tayo maraming service contract when it comes to oil exploration,”pahayag ni Tarriela.
