DOJ tutukuyin pa ang halaga ng kumpensasyon sa fishing boat na pinalubog ng Chinese vessel

MANILA, Philippines — Tutukuyin pa lamang ng Department of Justice (DOJ) ang halaga ng financial compensation para sa 22 crew members ng fishing boat Gem-Vir 1 na pinalubog ng Chinese vessel sa West Philippines Sea noong nakaraang taon.

Ito ang sinabi kahapon ni Foreign Affairs Secretary Teodoro “Teddyboy” Locsin, Jr., bilang tugon sa tanong kung bakit hindi pa nagbibigay ng kumpensasyon ang pamahalaan ng China sa insidenteng naganap noong 2019 sa Reed Bank (na kilala rin bilang Recto Bank).

“I would say it is hard to determine. The [fishing] boat was owned by a company. Do you give the money to the company or the fishermen? But I have tremendous confidence with the Secretary that he will come up an amount very soon,” wika ni Locsin.

“The Chinese government is not the one at fault here. The Chinese vessel is a private company,” saad ni Locsin.

Nang tanungin kung kailangang bayaran ng pamahalaan ng China ang kumpensasyon na diretso sa mga mangingisda sa halip na isang senyales ng “good faith”, sinabi ni Locsin na dapat maging option ito.
