15 Taiwan products ipinagbawal ng FDA

MANILA, Philippine s- Ipinagbabawal ng Food and Drugs Administration ang pagtangkilik sa 15 produkto na gawang Taiwan matapos na matuklasan na nagtataglay ng acid content na hindi aprubado ng FDA dahil sa  panganib na idudulot sa bato o kidney ng sinumang makakakain. Sa pinalabas na advisory ng  FDA,  na inisyu ni Acting Director General Kenneth Hartigan-Go noong Hunyo 6, sinuspinde na rin ng Taiwan government  ang  pagbebenta at distribusyon ng mga naturang produkto na kontaminado ng maleic acid, isang uri ng food additive na hindi aprubado ng FDA.

Kabilang  sa mga produktong mula sa Taiwan  na ban  na ngayon sa Pilipinas ay ang Hong Tapioca Starch, Redman Black Tapioca Pearl, Sun Right Indica Rice Powder, Top 1 Tapioca Pearls, Tea World Tapioca Starch Ball, Unbranded Starch Ball, Ding Long Tapioca, Pearls, Sun Chi Noodles, T & M Resources Corp Tapioca Pearls, Pure Tea Tapioca Pearls (White), Pure Tea Tapioca Pearls (Black), Full Free Green Tea Tapioca Ball, Full Free Yam Tapioca Ball, Long Kow Vegetarian Instant Rice Noodle, at Long Kow Rice Noodle with Thick Soup. Pinaliwanag ni Hartigan-Go na ang maleic acid ay hindi aprubadong additive sa food products at ang mahabang panahon o long term consumption ng mataas na antas nito ay maaaring makasama sa kidney ng sinumang kakain.
